Welcome to Year 1!

Things to remember:
  • Monday is PE day. PE kits will be sent home at the end of each half term.
  • Reading books will be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday if finished. Please sign planners when you have finished a book with your child.
  • All children in Year 1 will swim on a Thursday.
  • Spellings will be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday.
  • Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be completed and handed in by the following Wednesday.

In the summer term Year 1 will be learning all about where they live.  We will be looking closely at different types of houses and homes and designing our own dream homes!

Year 1 INSPIRE phonics workshop

  • Reading Eggs A great way to learn to read! Lots and lots of fun reading activities to enjoy! If you can't remember your log-in details, please ask Miss Williams. (Parents: this is a really helpful way of getting to know the way children use phonics now - listen to how sounds are pronounced. It will also help prepare your child for the new Government end of Year 1 Phonics Screen. Both boys and girls are loving it!)
  • Mathletics See how many points you can earn for Year 1! Certificates earned will be given out each week in school. If you've lost your password, please ask Miss Williams
  • Phonics Games Have fun playing phonics games to support what your child will be learning in the classroom.
