Reading Records are to be used to record books read and any notes you may

want to pass onto Mrs Macdonald or Mrs Royal - (these will be checked daily.)

It is important to record when your child reads at home and if they have finished a book so it can be changed on the relevant days. Please ensure your child can answer questions about the story and can fully understand it before writing ‘book complete.’ We would rather children have in depth knowledge of how to understand stories, talking about the characters etc, as well as knowing how to read the words. When you read with your child please date, sign and feel free to write a short comment if you would like. Please do remember to record each time your child reads along with the date – even if just a couple of pages – as they are checked and this is recorded daily.

Any letters or notes from the class teacher will be put in the planner. It is therefore important that your child’s planner is brought back into school every day. 😊

Homework: We do not set homework but there is an expectation across the school that children will read at home at least 4 times a week. This is really important and we will check this weekly. Children will receive a gold star on their bronze bookmark each time they read 4 times per week and the aim is to get onto silver, then onto to the gold bookmark by the end of the year!

Throughout the year I will send home activities to support learning in the classroom. This will be via Class Dojo. 😊

I am always available to speak to at the end of the day and please also email me at any time.

Mrs Wallin 😊
